Hi, I’m Ali Gill
Psychotherapist, Counsellor & Coach
About Me
Originally from the North of England, I am now fortunate enough to live in beautiful Cornwall, having moved here from Oxfordshire in 2001, following my dream; I love it here!
I have been working as a therapist for over 25 years and have now bridged my solid psychotherapeutic base with a spiritual and holistic approach to well-being which stems from my own personal and spiritual development. I combine all of my skills in a unique way to create a hearty mix of whatever is needed to help you on your life journey.
As an individual counsellor, I have worked with my own private clients (adults and young people) and with many clients referred through Employment Assistance Programmes, as well as working in Primary Care Psychological Therapy settings with clients referred by G.P’s.
I have a wide experience of facilitating many types of therapy and support groups, of teaching counselling skills in Adult Education and tutoring for the University of Plymouth.
I draw on a variety of modalities, including Person-Centred Counselling/Therapy, Psychodrama, Psychodramatic Bodywork, the Psychodynamic model, Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy, Hypnosis, NLP/Time-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing Technique, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and New Thought Philosophy.
In addition to counselling and psychotherapy, I became a Master in Reiki energy healing and have also trained in how to facilitate past life regressions.

My Approach
We’re all different. I believe in tailoring my approach to fit your needs. The main thing initially, is to form a connection, to see if we can work together.
I will then gauge where you’re at with the information that you give me. A couple of simple questionnaires can help with this. Then I’ll offer you my take on the situation and make suggestions of the work we could do together.
I’ll also indicate whether I think it will be short-term or longer term.
A Psychotherapeutic process is likely to be longer-term and revolves mostly around talking, expressing feelings and possibly revisiting the past, with a view to transforming our cognitions and emotions.
A Mental Health Counselling approach will involve talking and will be very focused on taking action to change your behaviour and thinking patterns, alongside the acceptance of your feelings. You will need to be prepared to work on yourself outside the sessions to achieve positive results.
Coaching is meant to kick-start you into action, when you’re already fairly clear on the goals you want to achieve, so it’s short-term and very focused.
I will ask you to prepare before our first appointment. My Coaching training is NLP-based.
All sessions take place either online via video or on a voice-call, via mobile, landline, WhatsApp, Meet, Teams or Skype.
